The Hewitt Cheviot is our award winning touring frame built using a mix of Reynolds 631 and Reynolds 525 tubing. This was the first compact touring frame on the market and was awarded the Cycling Plus distance bike of the year award, the joint winner of the Cycling Plus outright bike of the year and also the British Bicycle Awards distance bike of the year. The specification has been improved from the first (Cycling Plus) test, as specifications change.
The current specification includes the following:
- Reynolds 631 Main triangle
- Reynolds 525 seat-stays, chain-stays and forks
- English thread 68mm wide bottom bracket shell
- Requires band fit 28.6mm front derailleur
- 1 1/8″ Non-Integrated Head Tube
- 27.2mm I/D Seat Tube
- Clearances for up to 42mm tyres and mudguards
- 135mm rear drop-out width
- Integral Seat clamp for Campagnolo style seat bolt
The Cheviot comes as standard in a choice of flamboyant blue or flamboyant red finish with silver decals.
The following braze-ons are included as standard:
- Cantilever bosses, front and rear
- Rear brake hanger
- Brake cable stops (2) under top tube, offset to right hand side
- 3 sets of bottle bosses, Down tube, seat tube and under down tube
- Double gear lever bosses on down tube, (these can be adapted to stops)
- Outer gear cable loops on head tube
- Gear cable stop under RH chain-stay and plastic under bottom bracket cable guide
- Mudguard eyes on front and rear drop-outs
- Integral mudguard fittings in brake and chain-stay bridges
- Carrier eyes on seat tube and extra eyes on rear drop-outs
- Low-rider carrier fittings on forks

The Hewitt Cheviot SE is another award winning touring frame of ours built using Reynolds 725 with Reynolds 531 forks. This bike was awarded the Cycling Plus distance bike of the year award, and the wheels won a Cycling Plus silver award. The specification has again been improved from the first (Cycling Plus) test, as specifications change.
