Since opening in 1994 Hewitt cycles have assisted and supplied products and services to many cyclists and teams, sometimes for promotional purposes sometimes because we were asked to, some of whom paid for them, this list is not definitive but may give an idea of our commitment to the quality of the services and products we supply.
Team BGlobal-Hewitt Cycling Team.
TEAMBGLOBAL is a British road bicycle racing team established in 2010 to compete in road races. The team is non-professional and was created to bring together the best of Northern England’s amateur racers who want to make their mark in cycling and develop as racers. We wanted to bring together talented riders who have what it takes to compete at the highest levels of amateur cycling. TeamBglobal was established by Bglobal Metering, the UK’s leading Smart Metering company.
V.C. St. Raphael / Waite Contracts / Hewitt Cycles.
Hewitt cycles have been equipment sponsors of V.C. St. Raphael since 2004, based in Portsmouth, their riders are spread across the UK, the club has won numerous national championships and a few world masters championships.
Team Ambrosia
Prior to the Team Ambrosia moving onto Spinergy wheels Hewitt cycles were the appointed wheel builders for the team.
Linda McCartney Cycling Team
Hewitt Cycles were the appointed wheel builders for The Linda McCartney Cycling Team for three years. Sean Yates the team manager rated the wheels as being some of the best and most reliable he had come across.
Bradley Wiggins.
As Bradley lives fairly close to us he is a fairly regular visitor to our shop, we have supplied numerous wheels to him including wheels for the Paris Roubaix and Tour of Flanders early season Classic races in 2009 and also wheels for the National criterium championship race in 2008.
Dave Harmon
Dave purchased a bike from us when he started working as the cycling commentator for Eurosport, he has also had a number of wheels built by us.
Matt Brammeier
He was selected to ride the Track World Championships in 2003 and represented Wales, using a bike supplied by Hewitt Cycles at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Brammeier rode for DFL-Cyclingnews-Litespeed in 2006 and signed for Profel Ziegler Continental Team for the 2007 season. Matt is now riding for the HTC cycling team.
Leanne Thompson
Robbie Brennan
Robbie is a local well known and excellent time triallist, we built Robbie a custom built steel Time Trial frame in 2010, he used our measuring service to perfect his position and has also taken advantage of our wheel balancing service.
Annie Emmerson
We supplied Annie 2 bikes, Annie at the time was British Middle Distance champion 5 times.
Keith Wright
Keith won the World Masters Pursuit Championship in 1997, using a Hewitt track frame an taking advantage of our measuring service.
Helen Purdy
We supplied Helen when she relatively unknown, but shortly after she went on to win the 1998 Longest day – this was the UK long distance (Ironman distance) Triathlon, championships. She won this event by over 39 minutes and in the process beat the old record by 10 minutes.
Anna Blyth
We supplied Anna Blyth two bikes, a road bike and a track bike, when she was taken on with the British Cycling start programme, since then she has gone on to win numerous national championships and two European track titles and a junior World championship. She is also a possible for the 2012 London Olympics.
Ed Nicoll
Ed is a multi talented athlete and has competed in seven world championships in 3 different sports, cross country skiing, cross country mountain bike, we have known Ed for a number of years and has had numerous bikes and wheels off us, of his latest bike he said “The new Cervélo bike has been awesome. It fits perfect which is a testament to Paul Hewitt’s bike fitting service. The Tri bars are very comfortable and I managed the 63kph on them the first time out, heading down the local col on the way to work.”
Matt Moorhouse
Matthew Moorhouse has been competing as a duathlete since 2004 but is from a running background and has run for Salford Harriers since the age of 10.
Matt is currently ranked 5th in the Powerman Duathlon world series with 2 top 3 positions in 2010 world series events.
Matt is currently sponsored by Athlete Matters and Paul Hewitt Cycles.
Melissa Bury
Melissa Bury is one of Great Britain’s most talented young cyclists. She performs in all disciplines of cycling, including track, road, mountain, hill climbing, cyclo-cross and grass track. Melissa is part of the British Cycling talent team and through expert coaching provided as part of this, has developed race technique across road and track.
